This is where we publish our boat related stories and articles, which range from world circumnavigation to rescue missions, humour and much, much more. So make yourself a coffee and settle yourself down to a good read.
The Boatshed 2014 Conference was held at the Excel exhibition centre during the London boat show. Boatshed offices travelled to London to share best practice, discuss ideas and develop new strategy for 2014/15.
Despite the dodgy weather, raging winds and floods I am always full of incorrigible optimism at this time of year. It’s as if we have a blank slate to work with. (Incidentally that’s a historical nautical term: The watchkeeper at the helm would wipe his slate clean at the end of his watch. See more sailing jargon to use ashore.)
Boatshed Scotland won the trophy for "Yacht Broker of the year" at the 2014 Boatshed Conference and Awards ceremony.
Boatshed.com will be on Stand E163 for the next 9 days.

…On Christmas day in the morning.”
Firstly, can I just say that here at Boatshed Essex we don’t advocate getting sozzled and taking your boat out to sea, to find out what the winter weather has in store for you. But a drink with friends on board in the marina, or down at the yacht club can be the perfect way to celebrate the festive season.
In the run up to Christmas we all try to think of the perfect gift that will show our loved ones just how much we care. Imagine their delight when you finally buy that boat you’ve been looking for, at a much reduced price, and are able to give them the time of their lives in 2014.
As the old song Happy Talk goes,

My 5 year old daughter has just discovered the classic movie Swallows and Amazons and is happy to watch it over and over on DVD. So it felt like serendipity when I noticed the Victorian boathouse that inspired Arthur Ransome’s books is now up for sale.

If you already know how to raise and lower the sails, how to set them to the wind, and what to do with fenders and lines when you come alongside then you could try improving your skills with a day skipper practical course.
