Per PowerBoatGuide's review of the model: "One of the earliest Riviera models introduced into the U.S., the 42 Convertible was marketed as a Bertram look-alike, built like a Blackfin and finished like a Hatteras. In fact the 42 does look a little like a Bertram, and it's also true that her construction is very sturdy indeed. Like all Rivieras, she was heavily built on a solid fiberglass semi-V hull with a shallow keel and a collision bulkhead forward... Because she comes standard with a lower helm, the front windows are not glassed over (as they are on most American boats)."
Hull Specifications per manufacturer literature:
+One piece moulded solid fiberglass
+Collision bulkhead. Two water tight bulkheads, engine bearers and all stiffening fiberglassed to hull
+All laminates to USL code or higher
Deck Specifications per manufacturer literature:
+One piece moulded fiberglass incorporating fwd deck, galley, saloon, and cockpit with nonskid pattern on all traffic areas
Fuel tank is FRP, freshwater tanks (2) are stainless steel, holding tank is poly. Holding tank size is estimated.
Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

Broker's Comments
The Riviera 42 Convertible is an attractive and well-rounded motor yacht with classic sport fisher lines and performance. This design offers a perfect balance between a comfortable interior layout with elegant accommodations (two staterooms & two heads) and a large cockpit and flybridge for outdoor activities and leisure.
Riviera has a reputation for premium build quality. The decks on this vessel feel solid and the appearance of the hull and deck are a testament to the materials and process used in the construction of this vessel.
Twin CAT 3208 375 hp diesel engines with low hours (<600) provide propulsion and a comfortable cruising speed of 15 knots. Top speed estimated to be ~23 knots.
Vessel handling in close quarters is simplified with the twin engines (equipped with trolling valves) and a bow thruster.
Extensive updates have been made since 2021. The updates include new:
+ interior appliances (fridge, microwave)
+ nav electronics (Garmin MFDs, Radio Autopilot)
+ Fusion stereo
+ mattresses in master and guest stateroom
+ interior upholstery
+ toilets (Jabsco electric) & hoses
+ bow thruster
+ shafts, struts, cutlass bearings, & shaft seals
+ inverter/charger (Victron Multiplus 12/3000)

As a broker and as a fellow boater, this is a boat that calls to me for many reasons, but principally these include:
1. With two heads and two staterooms the vessel is well configured for cruising with friends or family.
2. Low hours and easy to maneuver.
3. Classic lines (looks matter) and a good balance between interior and exterior accommodations.
5. Every indication of being well-built, upgraded, and maintained.
6. Cruising speed in the teens and capable of getting there today as opposed to getting there in days.
7. Recently surveyed and with a replacement value of nearly 7 times the list price (contact listing broker for the survey).
