Broker's Comments
This beautifully designed double ended steel ketch has been well maintained and improved by the current owners. Constructed by Eric Hammond Offshore Steel Boats, in 1992 and launched after fit out in 1996, this boat has all of the advantages of a steel boat. Steel boats are preferred for their superior strength over other materials and comparatively cheaper repair costs. All of this boat's anodes were replaced in May 2019, alongside an antifoul and rigging check, with no recommendations made.
When I visited the boat, I was impressed by its rugged and practical design and construction. The cockpit is a comfortable size and benefits from an all round cover. The side decks are comfortable to use when moving forward, to a large deck area with good stowage space and areas to work. The ketch rig makes sail handling more manageable and is complemented by the the well maintained engine.
Down below, the interior is full of character, with attractive woodwork, a good sized galley, complete with recent Taylors stove and an excellent saloon area for relaxing and entertaining. The accommodation includes a forward cabin, with two single berths, a heads with shower and a large, owner's double aft cabin. There is also acres of stowage space throughout the interior and the separate pilot's cabin is a great plus on passage. This cabin has good access to the engine room, contains a pilot berth and spacious navigation station.
This boat really does have a range of positive characteristics, including numerous sailing opportunities, from coastal cruising to deeper water adventures, all within the scope of this strong, reliable boat.
