Broker's Comments

The Westerly Centaur was designed in 1968, by Jack Laurent Giles, as a more contemporary and spacious replacement for the Westerly 25. They were built to Lloyds specifications, meaning that the building processes were rigorously tested and all the materials had to be approved by Lloyds in order that a certificate could be issued.

The Centaur's self-draining cockpit is deep and comfortable, with good sized side and foredecks. The interior is spacious, with five berths, a standing galley, spacious saloon and separate fore-cabin and heads. The Centaur is well known and loved, ideal for families and single handed sailing. With its bilge keels, the Centaur is equally at home crusing estuaries, rivers, making coastal passages and further afield when the weather permits.

When I visited the boat, I saw a vessel that looked to be in well cared for and in good condition throughout. This extended from the exterior, to the recently refurbished engine, headlining and upholstery. This version also benefits from plenty of upgrades, completed by the current owners, including navigation instruments and electrics.

Owners comments: "We are selling our much loved, and upgraded, 1976, Westerly Centaur. We sailed her to Falmouth in the summer of 2019 and spent holidays travelling around the South Coast of Cornwall and also sailed over to the Isles of Scilly. We sailed back to the Isles of Scilly in August for another holiday and then proceeded to travel along the South Coast stopping in lots of amazing locations on the way".

This vessel has a wide appeal to anybody looking for a safe, easy to handle boat to enjoy a variety of sailing. If you would like more information please contact our office and we would also be pleased to organise a personal viewing.
