The other day I picked up this easy galley recipe on Twitter from @TalbotWharf, “A plain tuna sandwich is improved no end by a layer of plain crisps inside,” and @Seafoodshed asked me “Any chance of a mention of essexseafood.co.uk #prattsvinegar?” I was happy to share their Facebook picture, with a lovely lady saying, “I always use Pratt’s vinegar on my winkles.”

So this week’s blog is based in the galley. Depending on your boat you may be able to easily cook a whole meal on board. I live on a narrowboat and we cook everything from a full roast dinner to spaghetti bolognaise on board (my husband’s speciality!)

Browsing the internet I found www.saltysailors.com has a good selection of galley recipes and www.galleyswap.com is a recipe sharing community for boaters.

Boatshed.com regularly features recipes on the blog; from lentil curry to toasties, and pizza to confit du canard casserole. These are tried, tested and contributed by real boaters, skippers and sailors from the Boatshed team.

We recently shared a fun little video on on Facebook : a kid’s recipe for tuna and cucumber sail boats. It’s easy to make, looks good and it’s healthy too! Tuna and cucumber sail boats

So what do you like to cook on board? Something simple and quick, or slow simmered and hearty? Keep up with more ways to enjoy boating by ‘liking’ our page on Facebook
